Visited 2021The Roman Forum was my favorite place to walk around in Rome. It was surprisingly relaxing to stroll through the ruins without rushing, and there were a lot of cats.

The Roman Forum fills the low valley between the Palatine and Capitoline hills. Its temples, arches, basilicas and civic buildings accumulated over more than a thousand years, so the site reads as a large archaeological area rather than a single monument.
The paths cross uneven stone and exposed ground, with limited shade between the Curia, Temple of Saturn, Arch of Septimius Severus and later churches built into Roman structures. The standard Colosseum ticket includes one entry to the Forum and Palatine during its validity period.
