St. Peter stands on the Petersbergl, close to Munich's earliest city history. A church was built here soon after Munich's foundation in 1158. Later rebuilding added Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Rococo work.
Expect a building made from several periods rather than one clean style. The tower, Alter Peter, is famous for the view, but the interior is better if you want to see Munich's habit of putting new decoration over older structure. Look for Gothic space and Baroque ornament sharing the same room.
