Mitre Line Mitre: Retiro–Bartolomé Mitre

The Mitre Retiro to Bartolomé Mitre branch connects Retiro with Colegiales, Belgrano R, Coghlan, Saavedra, Florida, and the Bartolomé Mitre terminal. From there it is a short street-level walk to Avenida Maipú for the Tren de la Costa.

This route opened in the late nineteenth century as a second railway approach toward Tigre. Passenger service beyond Bartolomé Mitre ended in 1961. That outer alignment reopened in 1995 as the separate Tren de la Costa, which explains the two nearby terminals and the transfer on foot.

Use SUBE for the fare and check the destination before boarding at Retiro. Trains for José León Suárez share the inner tracks but split after Belgrano R. The Tren de la Costa transfer is not inside a paid station complex, so allow time to exit, walk, and enter again.

The branch uses modern air-conditioned electric trains. Crowding is usually most noticeable on the shared inner section. Station renovations have added ramps and raised platforms in much of the network, although wheelchair access, elevators, and platform gaps should still be checked stop by stop.
