Patras Suburban Railway has two connected rail sectors. P1 runs from Kaminia through the southern suburbs to Agios Andreas. P2 continues through central Patras, Panachaiki, and Agyia to Rio. The official map also shows Hellenic Train buses beyond the rails, and those stops are not drawn here as railway stations.
Tickets and contactless payment
Fares are based on zones. Tickets are sold through Hellenic Train’s digital channels, at Patras station, and through Tap in Train validators inside the vehicles. Select the correct zone on the validator, then tap or insert a supported debit or credit card. The card becomes proof of purchase for inspection, but this is an onboard sale rather than an automatic gate fare.
A valid railway ticket or suburban pass also covers the published Hellenic Train connecting buses. Keep proof of fare available when transferring to the bus for Kato Achaia, Agios Vasileios, the university, or the hospital.
Trains and access
Diesel multiple units provide air-conditioning, open seating, and space for short urban trips. Service is practical through the center, but the two sectors meet at Agios Andreas and may require a change depending on the timetable.
Portable ramps support wheelchair boarding on the rail lines. Platform approaches and staffing vary, so Hellenic Train recommends arranging assistance at least 24 hours ahead. Check live notices because outer sections have shifted between train and replacement bus operation.
