Lycabettus Funicular

Athens, Greece

Part ofMount Lycabettus

About

The Lycabettus Funicular runs from Aristippou Street in Kolonaki to the summit area of Mount Lycabettus. Its lower station is uphill from Evangelismos metro, and the train covers the steepest section inside a tunnel. The ride is transportation rather than a sightseeing window, since most of the route is enclosed.

The Official Athens Guide says service runs every half hour. Current operating times and fares can change, so they are best checked before climbing to the lower station. The funicular is the least strenuous route to the summit, while paths and stairs remain available for the walk up or down.
