EFE Central Suburban Rail Tren Rancagua–Estación Central

The Tren Rancagua-Estación Central runs 81.8 km from Santiago to Rancagua. It skips the inner Nos stops, then serves San Bernardo, Buin, Paine, San Francisco de Mostazal, and Graneros.

The current service opened in 2017. It follows the first part of the historic southern railway, which reached San Bernardo in 1857 and Rancagua in 1859.

San Bernardo connects with the frequent Nos train. Rancagua and San Bernardo also receive selected long-distance Chillán trains, which use reserved tickets and a different timetable.

Weekday service is designed around commuting and is more frequent than the San Fernando extension. Weekend opening and closing times differ by station.

Three-car electric trains introduced in 2021 have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, information screens, security cameras, and areas for passengers with reduced mobility. The interior balances seats with standing capacity for the heavy commuter peaks.

Use EFE's current electronic regional payment method. Check the official fare table because the amount depends on origin and destination.

San Bernardo and San Francisco retain nationally protected station buildings. Modern platforms provide the step-free boarding route, and the old building may be closed or used separately. Contact EFE ahead of travel when wheelchair assistance is required.
