The Skopje to Kumanovo line connects the capital with Madzhari, Ilinden, Miladinovci, the smaller settlements north of the city, and Kumanovo. The current timetable has two departures from Skopje and stops passenger service at Kumanovo, despite showing the railway continuing toward Tabanovci and Serbia.
The route is the northern half of the historic international main line. It opened through Kumanovo toward Serbia in 1888, fifteen years after the first railway reached Skopje from Thessaloniki.
A one-way ticket from Skopje to Kumanovo costs 87 MKD, and the published round-trip fare is 140 MKD. Buy at a staffed station window or from the conductor. There is no contactless bank-card tap-in system or published mobile-ticket option.
The operator has newer CRRC electric multiple units as well as older rolling stock. Climate control, low-floor boarding, and seating conditions depend on the train assigned that day.
Only trains carrying the timetable’s reduced-mobility symbol should be treated as accessible. Rural stops can have low platforms and track-level access, so wheelchair users should confirm the exact departure and station arrangement before travel.
Check the official 2025/26 timetable near departure.
