The Skopje to Veles line connects the capital with Lisiče, Dračevo, Zelenikovo, Pchinja, Rajko Žinzifov, and Veles. It has the network’s most frequent corridor because local trains and the longer Gevgelija and Bitola services share these tracks.
This is part of North Macedonia’s first railway, opened between Thessaloniki, Veles, and Skopje in 1873. The corridor remains the common trunk for nearly every passenger train running south from the capital.
A one-way Skopje to Veles ticket costs 113 MKD, with a published round-trip fare of 180 MKD. Tickets are sold at station offices and by conductors. Contactless bank cards cannot be used as a tap-in fare, and the timetable does not advertise mobile ticketing.
Departures can use newer CRRC electric or diesel multiple units or older rolling stock. Air-conditioning, low-floor access, and onboard facilities vary by train, and commuter departures can have less spare seating near Skopje.
Accessibility is train-specific. Look for the reduced-mobility symbol in the timetable, and do not assume level boarding at the smaller stops. Confirm assistance with the operator if wheelchair access is required.
Use the official Skopje departures for the current train times.
