About

Julius Caesar began the first of the Imperial Fora in 54 BCE and inaugurated it in 46 BCE. The complex extended Rome's crowded political center and placed the Temple of Venus Genetrix at its far end. Later rebuilding under Trajan added the Basilica Argentaria and altered the surrounding shops and service spaces. The remains sit between the Roman Forum and Trajan's Forum.
