About
Santi Luca e Martina stands beside the Curia at the edge of the Roman Forum. A medieval church dedicated to Martina was granted to Rome's painters' guild in 1588 and rededicated to Luke as well. Pietro da Cortona rebuilt it from 1635 after relics attributed to Martina were found beneath the floor. Its Greek-cross interior, lower crypt and convex facade are a clear Baroque intervention around the ancient forum.
