About

When I Was a Stranger is a bronze sculpture by Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz outside San Lorenzo in Lucina. The cloaked figure represents Christ as a displaced person and leaves an empty seat beside him. The original cast was installed here in 2016. It later became one stop in the Matthew 25 collection placed around Rome.
