The Premetro is the surface extension of the Buenos Aires rail network into Villa Soldati and Villa Lugano. Both branches start at Intendente Saguier, beside the Line E terminal at Plaza de los Virreyes. They share the same tracks to Pola, then divide for Centro Cívico Lugano and General Savio.
The line opened in 1987 and has 18 stations across the two branches. It is useful when the destination is in the southwest of the city. Most visitor routes remain on the Subte, buses, or taxis and rideshare.
Premetro uses small single-car trams rather than full Subte trains. The ride is slower and more exposed to traffic than the underground network, and standing room gets tight around the busiest stops. Use SUBE for the fare.
Accessibility varies by stop. Several platforms have been rebuilt with mobility guides, braille signs, and better lighting, but the renovation program is not complete across the whole line. Check the platform and vehicle gap before boarding with a wheelchair or limited mobility.
